Twins Fans: We Can’t Wait To See You Again

April 5, 2021

Some local businesses are planning baseball-themed specials for the start of the Twins’ home schedule in hopes of getting fans to rediscover the North Loop as a great pre-game and post-game spot for eating, drinking and shopping.

“We are thrilled to welcome the Twins back to Target Field,” said Diane Merrifield, president of the North Loop Neighborhood Association. “We’ve missed the excitement of the games, and we’ve missed the fans.”

Within four or five blocks of Target Field, you’ll find four taprooms in the North Loop: Fulton, Modist, Inbound and First Draft, along with a cidery, Number 12 Cider and a brand new winery, AxeBridge.

Also close to the ballpark are several bars/restaurants including The Freehouse which will have a patio DJ and ballpark-themed food and drink for the home opener April 8th, the 7 food vendors inside the Graze food hall: Soul Bowl, B.A.D. Wingz, Avocadish, It’s 7AM Somewhere Brunch Cafe, The Last Drop, The Fabled Rooster and Viva Taco. Also nearby: Darby’s, Cuzzy’s, NOLO’s Kitchen, Smack Shack, Black Sheep Pizza, The Loop, Crisp & Green, Thr3 Jack, Jun Szechuan Kitchen, as well as the 3 food vendors at North Loop Galley: Wrecktangle Pizza, SoulFu and Ono Hawaiian Plates. Walking toward the ballpark on Washington Avenue? You could also try Runyon’s, Red Cow, Red Rabbit, JD Hoyt’s, The Monte Carlo, Billy Sushi, Tullibee or The Office.

For Opening Day, the Hewing Hotel is hosting a pre-game in its alley with buckets of beer and waffle cones filled with mashed potatoes and smoked brisket, among other items.

Besides last year’s season which was played in empty ballparks because of the pandemic, we also had major disruptions during the 2019 Twins season caused by a huge road reconstruction project that wiped out parking and prompted detours for the entire summer and early fall.

For those returning in 2021, MLB has a variety of parking tips on its website and you can familiarize yourself with street parking and how to use the meters in Minneapolis here. Please carefully read all signage regarding parking restrictions such as not parking in areas marked private resident only or guest parking.
